Cookie Policy | The Blog Story

This policy lists every cookie and browser-storage item The Blog Story uses, what each one is for, and how you control them. We keep the list short on purpose.

1. Your choice

On your first visit a banner asks whether to allow non-essential technologies. You can choose Essential only or Accept all. Your choice is stored in your browser and applies immediately — nothing non-essential loads before you accept, and anything that depends on consent appears as soon as you give it.

To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser settings. The banner will appear again on your next visit and you can choose differently.

2. Essential cookie

We set one cookie, and only when you sign in.

qc_session — keeps you signed in. It contains a random session token, nothing else. It is HTTP-only, so page scripts cannot read it; restricted to same-site requests; and sent only over HTTPS in production. It lasts 7 days, or 30 days if you chose “remember me”, and is cleared when you sign out or revoke the session.

This cookie is strictly necessary: without it there is no way to stay signed in, so it is not subject to consent. If you never sign in, we set no cookies at all.

3. Browser storage we use instead of cookies

Several preferences live in your browser's local storage rather than in cookies. They stay on your device and are never sent to our servers.

qc-cookie-consent — records the choice you made in the banner, and when. Without it we would have to ask on every page.
qc-theme — your theme and appearance preferences, so the right colours are applied before the page paints.
qc-locale — the interface language you selected.

4. Advertising

Advertising on this site is consent-gated. Until you accept non-essential technologies, no advertising code runs.

House ads are served by us from our own database. They are shown inline, never as pop-ups or overlays, and are always labelled “Advertisement”. We record an impression count and a click count for each ad. These counts are aggregate — they are not linked to you.
Google AdSense may appear where the operator has configured an AdSense account and an administrator has approved advertising on that particular post. In that case, and only after you accept, the Google advertising script is loaded from Google's servers and Google may set its own cookies. That processing is governed by Google's own privacy and cookie policies, not by ours. If either the account is not configured or you decline consent, the script is never loaded.

5. Analytics

Our analytics do not use cookies and do not identify you. When a page is viewed, our own server records the post or path, the domain of the referring site, and a timestamp — no IP address, no account ID, no device fingerprint. We do not load any third-party analytics service. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.

6. Embedded content

Authors can embed content from other services in their posts. When a page containing an embed loads, that service receives the request needed to display it and may set its own cookies under its own policies. If you would rather avoid this, do not open posts containing embeds, or block third-party cookies in your browser.

7. Cookies we do not use

We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles of you, we do not sell data to data brokers, and we run no cross-site tracking pixels of our own.

8. Changes

If we add or remove a cookie we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
